Swamp

The painting Swamp springs from our appreciation for the period extending from the fall of the leaves off the trees to the arrival of the first snows a few weeks later in Northern Finland. When days grow shorter and only a dim light prevails, and the fields are covered by gray, ochre and brownish tones.

We painted it from a photograph by artist Juha Tolonen. Both the photo and the painting capitalize on the possibilities offered by the medium to reflect the beauty and complexity of the natural world in that particular time of the year.
