Wednesday Update 11

We just returned from a mini-holiday in Southern Finland, where we got to see lots of good art, met wonderful people and Misha got to know a bit more of his adoptive country. We drove South with our friend, Rovaniemi cult figure Pekka Kumpulainen to attended the funeral party of the Lahti Institute of Fine Arts, where Raisa studied. It was great to meet some of Raisa's old schoolmates and teachers and to check the graduating show of the Lahti Institute of Fine Arts' last generation of artists at Lahti Art Museum.

The next we day drove to Mänttä for the Mäntän Kuvataideviikot, an annual occasion for Finnish contemporary art. We enjoyed very much a guided tour by the curator of the show, Anssi Kasitonni, who happened to be an old schoolmate of Raisa.

After the guided tour at the Mäntän Kuvataideviikot. Misha not only gives everything when doing his painting, also when seeing other people's art.
